Data Evolution Corporation (DEC) is a provider of unique mobile and thin-client solutions, including the Clio® NXT™, the world’s only full-sized, Windows CE, convertible notebook, the Cathena® family of user-friendly notebook computers, including the Cathena CX convertible UMPC, and the decTOP™, the world renowned mini desktop PC.
The decTOP design, winner of the Silver BusinessWeek 2006 Industrial Design Excellence Award (IDEA), was devised to be a high-quality, affordable, easy-to-use, robust consumer device suitable for first-time technology users. It provides a consumer-friendly user experience and is developed to be highly reliable with a fully integrated, low-power computing sub-system.
DEC and AMD
Originally designed and launched by AMD launched in 2004, the decTOP (formerly known as the PIC) was designed to prove that durable and reliable Internet access solutions could be made affordable for people in high-growth markets.
In December 2006, AMD chose Data Evolution Corporation to become the manufacturing and marketing organization for the device and transferred the associated assets to them.
The success of the 50x15 Initiative hinges on the creation and development of affordable, sustainable technology solutions, such as the decTOP, that can be implemented in high-growth markets. Working together with technology partners all over the world, 50x15 is committed to helping innovators design and implement solutions that can foster connectivity across the globe.
DEC Mission
